Star Rejects Anti-Vaccine Position Following Narrating Controversial Covid Feature
The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a recent film that challenges the safety of vaccinations and praises one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a well-known publication written by Judy Mikovits, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for allegations that the virus was linked to a problematic version of the influenza shot.
The publication's co-author, the executive producer, has penned books with controversial figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively recently posted celebrating Neeson's involvement in the documentary.
A Firm Statement
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a statement firmly refuting implications that he subscribes to anti-vax views.
"Many recognize that corruption might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be confused with rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "He has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement noted that the performer had no hand in the film's messaging and that inquiries about its claims are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Major Themes In the Film
In the film, the script read by Neeson features several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It posits that "research has become deeply influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused psychological harm that cost thousands of lives.
- Regarding the immunizations, it references a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Background and Ongoing Debates
The documentary further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr instructed the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This claim is echoed in the film, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Position of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
The film ends with Neeson's narration saying, "This marks not the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the start of a fresh chapter."
