Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match following making accusations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the situation. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
