Fans Call for Arrest of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a person who breached a fence and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was set to be present on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last year.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Many supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote another message on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, winning a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
