Aaron Rai Clinches the Abu Dhabi Title in Dramatic Playoff Showdown Against Tommy Fleetwood
The 30-year-old golfer displayed exceptional nerve to secure the prestigious Abu Dhabi title on the final day, beating Tommy Fleetwood in a tense playoff following a topsy-turvy last day of play.
The Englishman nailed a crucial birdie putt from just over eight foot to clinch the victory, repeating his sole prior Rolex Series triumph at the Scottish Open in 2020, which was also a playoff victory over the same opponent.
Final Round Excitement
The champion started the last day with a one-shot advantage over fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and Danish golfer Nicolai Højgaard. He finished with a total score of twenty-under after a topsy-turvy, five-under final round that included seven birdies and a pair of bogeys.
Fleetwood moved a stroke clear with the 16th and 17th to play after a birdie putt on the 16th, but his rival pulled level again on the 17th and then missed a 10-foot birdie putt to win outright on the last hole.

This set up a playoff at Yas Links where the eventual winner prevailed to claim the championship and $1.5 million (ÂŁ1.13 million) in winnings.
